º£½ÇÂÒÂ×

I have been involved with the work of º£½ÇÂÒÂ× over the years and have always enjoyed contributing and collaborating with colleagues to improve outcomes for newborns and their families as well as healthcare professionals. I have been a member of various º£½ÇÂÒÂ× committees and working groups including the Toolkit for Neonatal Services and the clinical advisory panel of º£½ÇÂÒÂ×. I am a co-author on multiple national strategy/guidance documents e.g. Optimal Arrangements for Neonatal Intensive Care Units in the UK including guidance on their Medical Staffing: A Framework for Practice º£½ÇÂÒÂ× 2014, Service Standards for Hospitals Providing Neonatal Care, º£½ÇÂÒÂ× 2010. I also represented º£½ÇÂÒÂ× at the National Maternity Safety Steering Group.

In view of my interest and expertise in QI, I am currently a member of the º£½ÇÂÒÂ× Quality Committee Steering Group.

The most beneficial part of º£½ÇÂÒÂ× membership is the regular updates and guidance on important issues. It has provided very good opportunities for multidisciplinary collaborative working focussed on improving outcomes for children and families and given me the opportunity to represent º£½ÇÂÒÂ× at external stakeholder events.

In the future I’d like to see º£½ÇÂÒÂ× increase their involvement and engagement with nurses, ANNPs, and AHPs, develop a rolling training programme on QI & Safety and utilise national data for better insights and improvement.

I would encourage all those working in neonatology to join º£½ÇÂÒÂ× and would make a specific request to all trainees, ANNPs, nurses and AHPs to consider this and utilise this excellent opportunity to contribute and make a difference.

º£½ÇÂÒÂ× is registered in England & Wales under charity number 1199712 at 5-11 Theobalds Road, London, WC1X 8SH.
